>> What is a snapshot?
Theoretically speaking, a snapshot is a map of the hard drive partitions and the map's indexing system. Practically speaking, a snapshot is a "picture" of the PC at the time. It's not conventional backup files and doesn't contain hard drive data itself.
>>How much space does a snapshot take?
Theoretically, Wondershare Time Shuttle does not take any hard disk space to create up to 1,000 snapshots. Anyway, how large place can a "picture" take?
>>If snapshots don't take space, then what does the number of space size behind each snapshot on the Snapshot Management interface mean?
The number of MB means how much data has been changed during the period of two adjacent snapshots. It's not what the snapshot takes.
>>After I use Wondershare Time Shuttle for some time, creating some snapshots and deleting some, it says there is no enough space, so what should I do?
After you delete files and snapshots, please run the optimizer in Wondershare Time Shuttle, and then the space will be back.
>>What if the backup area is infected by virus?
The backup area is invisible; it cannot be infected.
>>I want to restore my system to an earlier status, but I want to keep some files on the current system, how can make it?
You can create a snapshot for the current status first. Then you can perform a restore and then use file recovery to extract the files you want from the snapshot you have created just now. Another direct way is that you can set "synchronize files" function to take the files along with the restore and the files will be taken to the system restored. Synchronize files is in System Setting, and please refer to the tutorial for details
>>I restore my system, but find that I don't like this one, can I go back?
Yes. Before you perform a restore, you can create a snapshot for the current status in case you want to be back. The program will prompt for making a snapshot when you click to restore.
>>Can Wondershare Time Shuttle fix hardware malfunction?
No. Wondershare Time Shuttle solves software problems. If your hard disk, monitor or other hardware is out of work, it's better to change a new and good one.
>>Can Wondershare Time Shuttle recover data if the hard drive performs a formatting?
Wondershare Time Shuttle supports Microsoft Windows 7, Windows Vista, Windows XP, Windows 2000, Windows 98, Windows ME and Windows NT 4.0.
>>What operating systems does Wondershare Time Shuttle support?
Wondershare Time Shuttle supports Microsoft Windows 7, Windows Vista, Windows XP, Windows 2000, Windows 98, Windows ME and Windows NT 4.0.
>>What file systems does Wondershare Time Shuttle support?
Wondershare Time Shuttle supports NTFS, FAT32 and FAT16. It DOES NOT support compressed NTFS volumes. So you need to decompress the volumes first before installing Time Shuttle.
>>I have more than one system installed on my computer. Can Wondershare Time Shuttle work under this condition?
Yes. Wondershare Time Shuttle is designed to support multi-operating systems on one computer. Caution: you should installed Wondershare Time Shuttle on all your systems, or else the one without Time Shuttle installed will not be started normally. Please refer to installation introductions for specific process.
>>Does Wondershare Time Shuttle support 64-bit Windows operating systems?
Yes. Wondershare Time Shuttle fully supports 64-bit MS Windows systems and it has passed strict tests.
>>Can Wondershare Time Shuttle be installed on Windows 2000 Server?
We are not able to perform full tests on servers for server types vary a lot. So, we DO NOT recommend Wondershare Time Shuttle to be installed on servers, including Windows 2000 Server.
>>Can Wondershare Time Shuttle be installed on SATA hard drives?
Yes. Wondershare Time Shuttle supports common types of hard drives, including IDE and SATA, but NOT SCSI hard drives.
>>Can I delete snapshots?
Yes. You can delete them manually or by setting schedules. Make sure snapshots you want to delete are UNLOCKED. The first snapshot—the baseline or the current one, you cannot delete.
>>I chose to only protect drive C when installing Wondershare Time Shuttle, but now I would like it to protect all my drives, how can I do it?
In this case, you should uninstall Wondershare Time Shuttle first and then reinstall it, checking all drives to protect while installing. Sorry for the inconvenience.
>>I delete some data, and some snapshots which contain the data, but now can I get the data back?
In this case please try to remember and check whether there are other snapshots that may contain the data. That is to say, please check whether you have created other snapshots when the data had not been deleted yet. If yes, you can get the data back from the snapshots; if no, then you cannot get it back.
>>What if the installation folder is deleted directly mistakenly? Will there be serious errors on my operating system?
First of all, deletion of the installation folder has no influence on your operating system, but it will lead to fail of Wondershare Time Shuttle start. You can't use Time Shuttle from the main menu. In that case please enter booting menu (press Home when operating system booting) and restore system from a normal snapshot. Then you can use Time Shuttle under Windows as usual.
>>I set password for Wondershare Time Shuttle, but I forget it, and now I can't do operations on the program. What should I do?
If you enable access control but haven't set a password, Wondershare Time Shuttle will set your account name as administrator and password as 12345678 by default, and you can use them to access;
If you enable access control and have set a password but forget it, please first of all, DO NOT try to force to uninstall Wondershare Time Shuttle or reinstall the whole system (without password, you can't uninstall Time Shuttle normally). Please follow the steps:
(1). Reboot the computer and enter the booting menu (press Home key when booting);
(2). Press Alt + F1 together when a dialog appears asking for password and then there come out a string of codes;
(3). Please tell the string of codes to us and we will manage to get your password back. (Please visit http://support.disk-utilities.com/interface.php?m=retrieve_order to summit your problem.)
