>> When you choose this and click this, a dialog will pop up for you to confirm. Simply click Yes to continue.
Setup for single system users step 2:
>> Next, please select which of your partitions to protect. Check the box below, and a folder called temp will be created on the unprotected partition, and system temporary files (usually on your C: partition) will be moved here. It is recommended to move the temporary files out of the protected partition (C: usually), for they are unnecessary junk files. If you choose to protect all partitions, then the check box won't be there.
>> Then just click next until the setup is finished. In the end, you may have to reboot your computer for Time Shuttle to start working.
Setup for multi-system users step 1:
>> If you have more than one systems installed on your computer, please choose multi-system installation.
>> Caution: please install Time Shuttle on all your OSs, or else you may be unable to enter the system that isn't installed later.
>> At the first install, please select "Start setup on this operating system first". Complete the installation and reboot your computer.
Setup for multi-system users step 2:
>> This time switch to the next system, and run the setup program again. If there are still other systems, keep selecting "Start setup on this operating system first" untill you install Time Shuttle on the last OS. At the last time, select "I have run setup on all other operating systems".
>> Keep doing this untill you have installed Time Shuttle on all operaing systems.
Use Time Shuttle - Take a snapshot
>> Before you can use Time Shuttle to restore system and recover files, you need to create snapshots. A snapshot serves as a restore point which remember the system status.
>> Click Take a Snapshot in the Create Snapshot section to take manually. Type a name for the snapshot.
>> Click next, and the snapshot is taken. It will take no more than 5 seconds to take a snapshot. The snapshot will protect all data on the selected-protected drives. Once there is something wrong, you can restore to this status or recover files from it.
Use Time Shuttle - Save baseline
>> Save Baseline in the Create Snapshot section means you save the current status as baseline.
>> Caution: if you execute this operation, all the other snapshots will be deleted, and you cannot get them back, so please make sure current status of your computer is fine. If you just want to take a snapshot for current status, please turn to Take a Snapshot. Save Baseline will reboot your computer.
Use Time Shuttle - Snapshot settings
>> Snapshot Settings allows you to lock, unlock, and delete snapshots.
>> You can see details of created snapshots. The Space means how much data have changed between two snapshots, rather than the space taken by a snapshot. Locked snapshots can't be deleted if you click Delete All. You must unlock them first. Baseline is always locked. It can't be unlocked or deleted. The last snapshot cannot be deleted.
>> You can take snapshots not only manually, but also automatically by setting schedules. Later on it will be introduced.
Use Time Shuttle - Restore system
>> Snapshots give you guarantees against all problems. When you are confronted with anything wrong, virusor/and system crash, just restore.
>> Click Restore System in the Quick Restore section, choose one snapshot you would like to go, and click Restart. When it finishes rebooting, everything is back to normal.
>> Want to keep some data on current system? Just set taking a snapshot before restore. The detailed procedure will be introduced below.
Use Time Shuttle - Recover files step 1
>> If you just want to get some files back from a snapshot to current status, you don't need to restore the whole system, but just click Recover Files.
>> In the window, choose the snapshot in which the files are stored (files are remembered as long as they existed when you took the snapshots), and click Mount.
Use Time Shuttle - Recover files step 2
>> Then Time Shuttle will search information. A few seconds later, a dialog will pop up.
>> Several virtual drives are created. The data on these virtual drives are exactly the same as what they were when you took the snapshot. You can click Open Virtual Drive(s) to view them.
>> Next you find the place where the files were on virtual drives, copy them, and paste them to your real drives. Then file recovery is realized. It is just as easy as you copy a file from one of your drive to another.
Use Time Shuttle - Recover files step 3
>> Note: the virtual drives and real drives may not be one-to-one.
>> For example, Local Disk (D:) is not protected, and thus it doesn't have a virtual below. So VDRIVE C (H:) matches Local Disk (C:), VDRIVE D (I:) matches Local Disk (E:), etc.
>> When you finish file recovery, switch to the dialog again and click Dismiss Virtual Drive(s), and those virtual drives are gone.
Use Time Shuttle - Restore baseline
>> The third option Restore Baseline will take you to the initial status. All other snapshots, setting information and scheduled tasks will be deleted.
>> So if you just want to restore to baseline but keep all settings and snapshots, please turn to Restore System and choose baseline to restore.
Advanced - Permission Manager step 1
>> Here to set using and managing authority. By default, access control is disabled, anyone can use Time Shuttle freely.
>> When access control is enabled, you should enter user account and password to start Time Shuttle.
>> If you enable access control but haven't built an account, then you can use the default user Administrator to log on. The account name is Administrator, and password is 12345678.
Advanced - Permission Manager step 2
>> You can add other user accounts. Click Add and fill the form to create a new account. And check the box before each item to set the authorities.
>> Click Remove to delete account. Click Properties to change password and function limits. Account Administrator cannot be deleted. If you want to disable login, just select disable access control.
>> Note: Only Administrator can disable access control and change/remove other accounts; Administrator can change other accounts' password, while other account can only change its own password.
Advanced - System Setting
>> There are two tabs in System Setting: Configuration and Display.
>> Synchronize these files or folders when restoring syste: The item is used to synchronize files. For example, you want to restore to a previous snapshot, but there are some files on current system you would like to keep. Then you can use this function to include there files. When you perform a system restore, these files will be brought together to the previous status directly.
>> The other tab Display sets some appearance.
Advanced - Defragmenter
>> Defragmenter is used to free up your disk space. To free up space that protected files occupies, you should: 1. delete the files; 2. delete the snapshots that contain the files; 3. perform defragment. Click Defragmenter, delete unwanted snapshots and then Time Shuttle will proceed with defragment.
>> Regular defragment is helpful for rational use of space. You can set automatic defragment in System Setting mentioned above.
Advanced - Schedule
>> Time Shuttle allows you to run scheduled tasks so as to use the program more conveniently.
>> Click Schedule to add automatic restore or snapshot taking tasks.
Advanced - Booting menu
>> After Time Shuttle is successfully installed, next time when you boot your computer, you will see the screen on the left.
>> This is used for restore when you can't enter the desktop. Press Home key as it is said and you can enter the booting menu.
>> Here you can perform restore and other operations. So even if your system is so crashed that you can't get onto the desktop, you can restore system and bring it back to normal.
